Monday Motivational Meditation

I love work.
I love putting together a group of people
who are all doing the same thing.
The commonality of purpose.

Scott Rudin, 1958-

American film and theater producer. In the 1980s, he formed his own production company called Scott Rudin Productions, and his first film was Gillian Armstrong’s Mrs. Soffel.

COMMONALITY

Sharing work with others is a grand undertaking. The commonality brought about by a mutual purpose is a bonder that makes excellence possible. When fishermen work together to fix and untangle their nets, the laughter and jokes help them bear the tedium. They get a lot done together.

Sharing with my colleagues the mutual purpose of being a place or offering a service where people find healing and hope is fantastic. Our commonality of purpose allows some of us to focus on one thing while others concentrate on another. We are all working for the same end. We set up our neighborhoods of healing together.

The commonality of purpose requires collaboration. Setting my heart with an intention to be a positive force on my team takes confidence and enthusiasm. With all that I have, I allow my unique gifts to be brought into the mix so that we can together serve a purpose greater than our individual selves.

Divine Commonality, may I share with all the positive energy of the universe a work directed toward the good. I know that it is so much easier to tear down than build up. Help me be courageous in my efforts to be a creative force in building up the human community by offering healing and hope. AMEN.

ACTION: As you consider your labors, think about the those who share the work with you. Is it a collaborative process? Are you creating together a work greater than your individual selves? Celebrate your commonality of purpose this week.

About the Photographer

Taryn Baxter

“Hola! I’m a natural light wedding photographer based in Sayulita, Mexico. Originally from Victoria, Canada, I received a professional photography diploma there in 2006. I have been photographing weddings since 2010 (over 100 and counting!) and moved to Sayulita in 2015. I love travel and the outdoors and on my days off you can find me hiking or at the beach!

“I’m based in the beautiful beach town of Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico from October to June each year. As well as Sayulita, I am available for work in Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, San Pancho, Los Cabos, Tulum, Zihuatanejo, San Miguel De Allende as well as many other locations in Mexico! I LOVE to travel and will consider accepting bookings in foreign countries so long as I’m legally allowed to work there!”

The photos featured in this series, called “Neighborhoods,” were taken in the Mexican Pacific Coastal town of Zihuatanejo i I would like to thank Taryn for giving Nursing Heart permission to share her lovely work. You can learn more about Taryn and see more photos click HERE.
